who was at the anime exchange that happened in nigeria on the 5th of january?
these amazing individuals a concept i had been racking my own brains on and made it a reality in a way i never could have done. it goes simply like this ' animes are great. animes are fun. people love animes. so lets all share.' now i know that over the years small groups would come together to try and download and swap animes amongst themselve. my friends and i were such a group that mangaed to get a few people in unilag interested in animes and spread the joy of watching animes to others. but it became harder and harder to get things moving amongst ourselves as people who were in the group graduated and no longer had time to come to campus and help in the movement of keeping people into anime. i kept thinking to myself 'is there a way to keep people interested in our community of anime? how can we still get out new and interesting anime to people who need it, who will appreciate it, and who will have the same spirit of sharing animes with others? for a long time i couldn't find the answer. it never occurred to me to use the peer groups on the net as a means of accomplishing this goal.
i unfortunately was not able to attend, but i did my little bit by making sure that every person i knew was an anime fan would be aware and would do their utmost best to be there. i heard it was a great success and far surpassed what anybody had expected in terms of turn out.
i intend to be there for the next one being held on the 1st of march. i hope that if anybody reads this then they too will be there to part of an unforgettable experience. heck for all i know we could be making history! imagine that.
see you there, and as the one organisers said after the success "this is just the beginning...why say the sky's the limit, when there's footprints on the moon!"
see you ther.

vampire quest
Vampire Quest
In the beginning there the two gods created the world. One ruled the light and one ruled the dark. Both had a wish to bring life to the world but their reasons were different. One wished to see the beauty of life that was not immortal, life in which whatever the decision that was made there were consequences, in which the smallest choices made all the difference because it was irredeemable. The other wished to see a world in which he was supreme and he could do as he wished with it for whatever purpose he deemed fit.
The world was created and both were satisfied with what they had wrought together. However when the land was populated with the souls that they breathed into the world, only two major races were aware of their existence beyond the flesh they inhabited. They had the capacity to make choices and to recognise consequences for their actions. However one races capacity to do this was greater than the others. The first god was pleased with them and bestowed with the knowledge of mystic arts. They were given the task of caring for the all the beings of lesser awareness. To this end he gave them extended lives to make sure that they could fulfil there duties.
The other race was less aware of the consequence of their action. They were given shorter life spans but they did not really notice and though. They were happy living their lives one moment at time, and they were adept at finding the raw materials in the earth and utilising them. They built up technical skills and iron working skills.
In the end the dark god saw them all as an object in which he could shape the world as he saw fit. Having them all worship him and give him homage. The god of light saw what his counterpart intended and stood to prevent him. Both were evenly matched in power in their own plain. Thus the dark god hoped to win the battle by harnessing the power of the souls in the world to make him self stronger.
The light god saw what his counterpart intended and though he abhorred it did the same. For millennia both strove to increase their influence on the land of the living, gaining more members in their faith. Eventually both realised that the souls with the greatest potential were not those of the long lived souls but those of the short lived ones. They courted them in earnest using their followers as messengers. However they soon discovered that theses souls were fickle and rarely stayed loyal to the ones they were sworn to.
At this period the dark god gained in influence learning to prey on the weakness that these mortals had for promises. He promised them things he had no intention of granting to them when his plans succeeded. But the elves were sworn to the good god and were able to stop his plans on the mortal plane.
Then the dark one gained a powerful ally. Some elves were eventually taken in with the promises that he offered them. They swore loyalty to him in exchange for eternal life. Once granted though they were his servants, obliged to do his every whim. He also granted them the power to convert their brethren by marking them and draining out their life, thus corrupting them with the taint they carried within them. They were also granted command of the night being able to use it to cloak themselves and strike terror into the hearts of their enemies, the power to withstand almost all forms of physical harm as well as being granted strength greater than any other mortal and to move swifter than any other being, they could entrance anyone who had a weak mind with desire due to the beauty of their appearance.
The tide of the battle had now changed. Instead of secret battles in the background and shadows, it became open conflict in the streets and open fields. Many feared for their lives. The evil that the dark one had unleashed showed his true nature for all to see. Eventually the good god had no choice but to give the elves skills necessary to combat their enemies. These became the soldiers that would stand against those that were once their brothers. To the humans he gave them the power to fashion weapons that would kill them even with their greater speed and strength. Also the result of creating such powerful beings that did their masters bidding without question or conscience made many people realise that they could not trust him. The result was a shift in the balance of power to the good god. This turned the tide of the war.
In desperation the dark one tried to gain new and fearsome allies by taking those of the lesser awareness and granting them greater awareness for his cause. The result was that though they were now more aware, they only knew evil. These monsters caused much death and destruction but still favour was still with the good god.
In the end the dark one was defeated in an awesome battle that saw him banished from that plane of existence and sealed in his own unable to interfere in the world of mortals.
As for his greatest of his servants the elves that had sold their souls to him in exchange for immortality, they were punished. They were banished from the lands of the elves, they were banished from sunlight to the extent that if they ever stepped into direct sunlight they would burn. They were made susceptible to the purity of silver. Blessed water from the good god would burn the dark souls if they touched it. They made weak to the element of fire, and were given a physical defect in the form of a blade to the heart being able to kill them instantly.
However these dark ones were able to survive their punishment through a last intervention of the dark one. They were given a large amount of land to occupy in which no sunlight could reach it. This power was created from a magical device that would keep the area shrouded in night. Also though they could no longer travel in light they were not so hindered in the night time. They used this chance to hunt and increase their ranks.
The good god by this time had left the mortal plane in order to let the world continue without any interference. He would not interfere in the world till the necessary time came. He told this to the humans and elves, saying that until the dark one returned he would not return to their plane of existence. He explained that the interference from him and his other half had caused the strife in the world. The only chance for balance to return would be for him to leave the world.
In the mean time, though the evil elves were trapped they were no longer beholden to the commands of the dark one. Thus they set out to make the world theirs by what ever means they could find. In the end they were referred to as des draculis but the human’s common name for them was vampires. This was the common name they were eventually called by people over the course of history.
This is the history of how the world came to be in the order it is today. But this is not a tale of how the struggle continued but rather the story of the struggle of two people to lead their lives as they saw fit for themselves.
